The incident happened in New Hyde Park, at the Touch of Class II salon on Jericho Turnpike, at around 1:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
Nassau County Police said officers arrived to find an unoccupied Acura sedan just outside the building’s front exterior. The impact shattered two large windows and toppled part of a brick wall.
Nobody was inside at the time and there were no reports of injuries.
Officers located the driver, 28-year-old Antonio Fleming, of South Floral Park, walking away from the crash. An investigation found that he was under the influence, police said.
Fleming is charged with the following:
- Driving while intoxicated
- Driving while ability impaired
- Resisting arrest
The Touch of Class II salon called the incident a “tragic turn of events” in a Facebook post.
“Thankfully NOBODY was injured but our salon is destroyed,” reads the post. “Elena and Lisa will be finding a location to temporarily work at until Touch Of Class II is rebuilt. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts.”
